Instead, they are worrying about global warming:

Re-tasking the satellites away from watching Russia, North Korea, and Iran, not to mention looking for Waldo-bin-Laden? Sounds like a plan to me.

In an effort to forstall harsh treatment of our citizens by other powers, including terrorist organizations accustomed to sawing people’s heads off with rusty kitchen knifes, the Senate today set a new standard for absolute idiocy:

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate voted Wednesdy to prohibit the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects despite President Bush’s threat to veto any measure that limits the agency’s interrogation techniques.

The prohibition was contained in a bill authorizing intelligence activities for the current year. The bill would restrict the CIA to the 19 interrogation techniques outlined in the Army field manual. That manual prohibits waterboarding, a method that makes an interrogation subject feel he is drowning. The bill passed on a 51-45 vote.

Apparently, the 19 interrogation techniques also don’t include speaking harshly, interrupting naps, or taking away prisoner’s cable TV. Human rights activists, and other liberal idiots, rejoice.

Registrant Name: Linda Schade

Per her bio at Huffington: “Linda Schade is Executive Director of VotersForPeace and a 20-year political veteran with experience in issue advocacy, electoral campaigns, media, coalition building, and grassroots organizing. She was a co-founder of TrueVoteMD and VoteTrustUSA – a state and national organization fighting for transparent elections voters can trust, and paper records for electronic voting machines, and of the Montgomery County Coalition for Alternatives to War.”

She was also a Green party candidate for the legislature in Maryland and a long time “progressive” agitator.

Of course, they really need your money. To quote their donations page:

Your donation will help forge a powerful bloc of peace voters across the
political spectrum who are committed to ending the US occupation and
preventing future wars of aggression. Thank you for making our work
possible!

Your contribution to VotersForPeace.US is tax-deductible. Please give what you can!

Of course, the problem with that is that political contributions are NOT tax deductible. If it happens that this organization is, as it claims, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, then yes, the deductions are tax-deductible (a search of the IRS’s charity database reveals no “Voters for Peace” 501(c)(3), so donate at your own risk.)

While the donations may be deductible, any expenditures they make to influence the outcome of an election or for or against a particular candidate are subject to heavy penalties as well as possible revocation of the tax-exempt status.

By the way, they also have an on-line store — where they further claim that purchases of lawn signs, t-shirts, etc. are also tax deductible. This is only possibly true to the extent that the purchase price exceeds the fair market value of the t-shirt, sign or the like. I didn’t find any indication of price v. the charities cost, so again, purchase at your own risk, suckers.

Shhhhh — don’t tell them. I’ll let the IRS know AFTER the elections.
