They seek insights from natural phenomena like clouds and glaciers, deserts and tropical forests.
Re-tasking the satellites away from watching Russia, North Korea, and Iran, not to mention looking for Waldo-bin-Laden? Sounds like a plan to me.

The environmentalist are getting everything. When do the people that hate the environment get their turn to play with spy equipment?
Not that there are any folks who “hate” the environment, except perhaps Trump. But he can afford his own satellites.
Wow, that sounds like an expensive way to study the environment.
Yes, indeed. Although I suppose most of the costs were already in place. I’m more concerned that they are spending time on things other than national security.
