Smokers banned from fostering children

Due to the extreme danger of smoking, and the surplus of people willing to foster children,

LONDON (Reuters) - A council has become the first in London to rule that smokers will no longer be able to foster children.

Redbridge Council’s cabinet agreed Tuesday night to a ban on placing children with foster carers who smoke unless there are exceptional circumstances.

No doubt, soon we will also see a ban on parents who curse, people who are overweight, foster parents who drive too fast, volunteers who fart occasionally, and anyone who might possibly vote conservative.

  1. Someone Says:

How can you compare smoking to cursing and farting? Second hand smoke- believe it or not- actually endangers the foster child’s lives. People have died from cancer they recieved from second hand smoke. No one ever died from their parents farting, or being fat. Be reasonable.

Folks, we have a True Believer, an obvious fanatic probable ex-smoker on our hands.

Be that as it may — by banning ALL smokers from fostering children, all you are doing is making it harder than it already is to find placements for these kids.

Here’s an idea — try educating foster parents that if they must smoke, to please do it outside and away from the children they are caring for.

Nah, that won’t ever work, will it? Screw the kids; stack em up like cordwood in the orphanages. Can’t let those evil smokers get their nicotine stained hands on the little codgers, can we?
