You can make a difference!

Especially in the salary of one of the bozos who put together this site:

Peace In Our Time — YOU CAN HELP!

Per her bio at Huffington: “Linda Schade is Executive Director of VotersForPeace and a 20-year political veteran with experience in issue advocacy, electoral campaigns, media, coalition building, and grassroots organizing. She was a co-founder of TrueVoteMD and VoteTrustUSA – a state and national organization fighting for transparent elections voters can trust, and paper records for electronic voting machines, and of the Montgomery County Coalition for Alternatives to War.”

She was also a Green party candidate for the legislature in Maryland and a long time “progressive” agitator.

Of course, they really need your money. To quote their donations page:

Your donation will help forge a powerful bloc of peace voters across the
political spectrum who are committed to ending the US occupation and
preventing future wars of aggression. Thank you for making our work

Your contribution to VotersForPeace.US is tax-deductible. Please give what you can!

Of course, the problem with that is that political contributions are NOT tax deductible. If it happens that this organization is, as it claims, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, then yes, the deductions are tax-deductible (a search of the IRS’s charity database reveals no “Voters for Peace” 501(c)(3), so donate at your own risk.)

While the donations may be deductible, any expenditures they make to influence the outcome of an election or for or against a particular candidate are subject to heavy penalties as well as possible revocation of the tax-exempt status.

By the way, they also have an on-line store — where they further claim that purchases of lawn signs, t-shirts, etc. are also tax deductible. This is only possibly true to the extent that the purchase price exceeds the fair market value of the t-shirt, sign or the like. I didn’t find any indication of price v. the charities cost, so again, purchase at your own risk, suckers.

Shhhhh — don’t tell them. I’ll let the IRS know AFTER the elections.

So there was some pain, for a few years, but…

… doctors are yucky so I didn’t bother to ask anyone…

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli doctors have removed a grapefruit-sized stone from the bladder of an Israeli woman after she left it untreated for years, possibly breaking world records.

The stone, removed in its entirety, had a diameter of 13 centimetres (5.1 inches) and weighed almost 1 kilogramme (2.2 lbs), doctors who treated the 48-year-old woman at the Western Galilee Hospital in northern Israel said.

“When I saw the stone, I was stunned,” patient Moneera Khalil said in a statement released by the hospital.

“I could not believe such a thing was inside my body. I am happy everything ended well and that the pain is gone.”

No word on whether they found any kind of brain inside this woman’s head; results won’t be back for three weeks since NASA must process the Hubble pictures painstakingly via their supercomputers. Doctors aren’t hopeful.

Who woulda thunk it?

In yet another groundbreaking and no-doubt expensive study:

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) — Researchers at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction at Indiana University say most men are always thinking of sex.

A study released Tuesday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Scientists found 54 percent of men and 19 percent of women admit they think about sex every day — or several times a day — in a society where they are bombarded with subconscious erotic images.

For a cup of Starbucks, I could have saved them thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours.

Football, you bet.

This is a winning formula — which has the side benefit of teaching young people an important lesson, up close and personal:

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) – The father of a young football player pulled a gun on his son’s coach because he didn’t think the boy was getting enough playing time, Philadelphia police said on Monday.

GPS Uber Alles

Suffering apparently either from Literal Instructions Compliance Syndrome, or that de-Nazification thing hasn’t taken hold:

BERLIN (Reuters) – A German motorist followed the command “Turn right now!” from his navigation system and crashed into a small toilet hut by the side of the road — about 30 yards before the crossing he was meant to take.

The overly obedient 53-year-old from Freiburg drove his sport utility vehicle off the road onto into a building site, up a stairway and into the small toilet shack, police in the eastern town of Rudolstadt said Sunday.

Maybe Jesus should take the wheel from now on?
