Note to self, next time don’t put gun and ID in the same pocket.

INDIANAPOLIS — Nobody ever said criminals are smart.

Police have made an arrest following a bank robbery in which officials said the robber left behind some incriminating evidence. The crime was captured on surveillance video., but police identified their suspect, Rodney Harper, 31, without the tape because of what investigators said fell out of his pocket during the holdup.

Did he say “carried away” or “buried away”? It’s time to throw away the metal detector and find a new hobby. Something that doesn’t involve shovels.

MONTCLAIR, Calif. — A homeowner digging for gold in his front yard said he got “carried away” and ended up with a 60-foot-deep hole, authorities said.
